The Community Based Alternatives (CBA) program provides home and community-based services to age 21 and older who would qualify for nursing facility (NF) care. These services are provided as cost-effective alternatives to placement in NFs.
The goal of the CBA program is to provide individuals with meaningful choices regarding long term care services. This goal will be accomplished primarily by facilitating the development and utilization of services which will allow individuals to avoid premature NF placement and which will provide current NF residents an opportunity to return to the community. Individuals should receive the services, through the CBA program and through other nonwaiver service providers that are necessary to provide a safe alternative to NF placement.
